Help and support

Stuck on something, found a bug, or have a question about your account or your subscription? Here is how to reach us, and answers to what people ask most.

Contact us

  • Email jenniferobiekwe333@gmail.com. We read every message ourselves.
  • Tell us which device you are on (iPhone, iPad or the web) and what happened. A screenshot helps a lot.
  • If Chalk got a problem wrong, send us the question. We use these to make it better.

Getting started

Type a question, tap the microphone and say it, or tap the camera to snap a photo of your homework, pick one from your photos, or write the problem out by hand. Chalk works it out on the board, writing each step and explaining it out loud.

You can pause, go back a step, or replay an explanation with the controls under the board. Ask a follow-up at any time, even mid-explanation: Chalk stops and answers what you asked.

No sound, or no captions

  • Turn the volume up while Chalk is talking (the media volume, not the ringer).
  • Check where the sound is going: headphones, AirPods or a car connected over Bluetooth will take it. Open Control Center to see.
  • In Chalk, open the ••• menu and make sure Voice is on.
  • Captions can be turned on or off in Settings › Board.
  • If it is still silent, close Chalk completely and open it again.

Your account

In the app you sign in with Apple or Google. On the web you sign in with Google or with a link we email you. Your boards are saved to your account, so sign in the same way on each device to see the same boards.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings › Account and tap Delete Account. On the web, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Delete account. This permanently deletes your boards, your answers and your learning profile, and it cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel a Chalk Pro subscription; cancel that separately (see below).

Chalk Pro and billing

Chalk is free to use, with a set number of messages every day. Chalk Pro gives you more messages every day, and starts with a free trial. You can subscribe in the app, where Apple bills you, or on the web, where you pay by card. Either way Chalk Pro is on your account, so it works in the app and on the web.

Managing or cancelling

If you subscribed in the app, Apple handles it. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Chalk. Cancel at least 24 hours before your plan renews to avoid the next charge.

If you subscribed on the web, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Manage Chalk Pro, where you can cancel or change your card.

Restoring a purchase

On a new device, open the Chalk Pro screen in the app and tap Restore. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you subscribed with. On the web there is nothing to restore: sign in with the same account and Chalk Pro is already on.

Refunds

Apple processes App Store payments, so refunds for those are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. For a subscription bought on the web, email us.

AI and your data

Chalk's lessons are created by AI: OpenAI writes the lessons and turns your voice into text, and Google Gemini narrates them. Chalk tells you this when you sign in, and signing in means you agree to it.

Like any AI, Chalk can make mistakes. Every step is on the board, so you can check each one, and if something looks wrong, ask Chalk about it or send us the question. For exactly what we collect and why, read our privacy policy.

Devices

Chalk runs on iPhone and iPad. On iPad you can write your answers on the board with Apple Pencil or your finger, and Chalk checks your work. You can also use Chalk on the web at trychalk.me/app.
